A Closing Ceremony of two days’ workshop called “International Seminar on South – South Triangular Cooperation in innovation of Public Services” was organized at Korobi Hall of Prime Minister’s Office by the initiative of Access to Information (a2i) Programme of Prime Minister’s Office and United Nations Office for South – South Cooperation (UNOSC). State Minister for Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Md. Shahriar Alam, MP was present as the Chief Guest. George Sedik, UNOSSC Director and Envoy of the Secretary– General on South – south Cooperation; Mia Seppu, UN Resident Co-ordinator and UNDP Resident Representative of UNDP Bangladesh; Kabir Bin Anwar, Director General (Administration) of the Prime Minister’s Office and Project Director of a2i Programme and Anir Chowdhury, Policy Advisor of a2i Program were also present. Md Abul Kalam Azad, Chief Coordinator of SDG to the Prime Minister’s Office was chaired the program. The purpose of this workshop is to create a more idea in broad about providing citizen centric services, and obviously, to explore the role of SDGs; Develop a new path through discussions on such issues like: how participants will achieve success in this field, and developing countries are how much interested in acquiring knowledge on citizen centric services; One of the main objectives of this workshop is to ensure that participating countries can benefit from each and other through South-South and three-dimensional collaborations. The three main questions that will make this workshop more significant. These are: to discuss the types of successful innovations in the supply of advanced services, what role did this play in the new process or innovation and what role did it not; considering the opportunity to take advantage of Information Revolution is not only for measuring development impact but also planning and managing it. Besides, a publication titled ‘South South in Action: Citizen Friendly Public Service Innovation in Bangladesh’ was unveiled in this inauguration. In the field of international development cooperation, Bangladesh has started playing an important role through the South – south Cooperation. The UN’s South – South Cooperation (UNOSC) office has taken significant steps to increase the participation of developing and developed countries, whereas Bangladesh plays a major role. Through this, developing countries will be able to share innovation, knowledge and experience among countries in providing public service. To make this initiatives successful, UNOSSC has organized different workshops and training courses on development from the year of 2012 to 2016 with the Brazilian Cooperation Agency. In addition to this year UNOSSC has organized three workshops in Africa, which are hosted by Benin Republic, Kenya’s Nairobi and Mozambique Republic of Maputo. The Government of Bangladesh and UNOSSC jointly work to introduce innovative practices in public service with other countries. This mutual cooperation by the UNOSSC and the Government of Bangladesh is not only the core leadership of South-south Cooperation, rather, it will also play a role in providing technical knowledge for the underdeveloped and developing countries interested in public services.
